Congrats to Moog for winning the TEC Award for Musical Instrument Technology on Oct. 10, 2009! TEC, short for for Technical Excellence & Creativity, is an annual award presented by MIX Foundation whose various awards focus on hi-end audio, recording and studio technologies.

The Moog guitar, now marketed as the production model E1, contains 6 patents for supporting technology, with another 7 pending.

Although not typical of our more traditional gear content, I dig the Moog for it’s classic shape (moreso than a Parker), use of beautiful woods and high craftsmanship. Aside from some surplus knobbery, this guitar retains sleek natural looks, and probably sounds like a well integrated conventional solidbody unplugged.
